Evangelists
The primary command for all Christians is to 'Go, to all nations and teach them about Christ'. (Matthew 28:18-20)
Evangelists tell the world about Jesus Christ and God's plan for our redemption for sin. They may not be teachers and they are probably not missionaries. But they are (or should be) appointed by God to talk about Calvary. Many people can do this but a precious few can inspire in their audiences a desire to accept Jesus and to change their lives to follow Him.
Evangelists work in many ways. Some are church ministers, some run soup kitchens in city centres, some set up homes for orphans, the list is endless. But they are all being obedient to God's will for their lives and God honours their obedience and their preaching of the good news of Jesus Christ. People are saved and miracles confirm the word being preached. Success comes despite persecution and people saying that the plans that the evangelists have are impossible.
Evangelists operate in almost every country in the world. People see in their lives the goodness of God. People see a difference which draws them.
We trust that the evangelists featured in Christian Heroes will inspire you as much, or even more, than they have inspired me. Ordinary people with an extraordinary God, they dedicate their lives to God and doing so much for those in desperate straits.
